In 1912, Keith Davies was the second officer to be gazetted to the RFC reserve, and later was attached to the Royal Aircraft Factory as an experimental pilot. He was one of the first pilots to undertake night-flying tests, and after being a member of the AID at Farnborough, Davies transferred to Parnall & Sons where it was intended that he should take on the duties of a test pilot flying both landplanes and seaplanes. Keith Davies joined Parnall in 1916, and after his work with the Zepp-Chaser, he eventually left the company's services to take over an aircraft factory in London until the end of the war.

She remembers the German This view, taken after the German air attack in February 1941 shows the extent of the damage. The railway sidings are in the top half of the pict~re. (T I Jackson Lid) 62 bomber swooping low over the factory with the gunner, who was clearly visible, 'popping away' with his machine-gun at the factory buildings. At that moment Margaret Fry was closing the doors of her department after the other women workers had run to the air-raid shelters, and she readily admits her luck in not having been hit by one of the enemy aircraft's bullets.

As a result of all this effort, it was only eight days after the second German attack on the Yate works before the first section transferred to the Dursley area was operating, no mean feat under the difficult circumstances. Soon busloads of workers were travelling to and from the Boulton Mills factory and many cars were to be seen parked in the area. It was after the works had been established at Boulton Mills that Parnall's received a visit from HRH The Duke of Kent. Parnall also operated a number of other sites around the Bristol area as well as in different parts of the country, especially after the raids on Yate.
