Consolidation and integration processes are an important instrument for raising competitive abilities. Under conditions of globalization, regional and sub-regional integration tends to become a prevailing trend at all levels – from the corporate to the national.
These attempts were doomed to fail for similar reasons. From the very beginning, the CIS and its objectives were ambiguous. The Russian left-wing opposition assumed that the CIS would be utilized as a tool for the restoration of the Soviet Union.
