You will not get a good grip on the slot if the tip is held at an angle. Screwdrivers designed for use with wrenches have either a square shank or a special bolster at the handle to withstand the application of extra force. Don’t try to hold parts in your hand. Instead, put the part in a vice or on a work bench to avoid the likelihood of stabbing your hand with the screwdriver tip. Whenever working on electrical devices, use a screwdriver with an insulated or molded plastic handle to avoid a shock (wooden handles with set screws are not acceptable).
A bench grinder will produce too much heat. A screwdriver blade that fits properly will allow you to get the greatest turning power while applying the least amount of pressure. A blade tip that does not fit properly will not only damage the screw slot but also possibly the tip itself. Always keep your free hand clear of the screwdriver tip when putting force on any type of screwdriver. Whether driving or removing a screw, make sure the blade is lined up properly with the screw. You will not get a good grip on the slot if the tip is held at an angle.
