The dog looked up in amazement and inquired if I was talking to him. Yes, I was. He certainly wasn’t used to speaking with humans, and he told me that while this man talked to him, he never seemed to hear the dog’s response; therefore he presumed people didn’t know how to converse with dogs. He seemed quite a character and had a good sense of humour. As I wasn’t used to this type of communication, it was hard to know what to chat about, so I simply asked the Boxer if he was enjoying his walk. Yes very much, he replied, adding that he’d have liked to been able to stop and sniff around a bit more.
They said humans are so skeptical that once may have been seen as a coincidence. Two was more of a sign. They were so right, 24 Shea and Mattie Show Me the Way because I definitely would have been unconvinced if they’d only slept beside me once. Many of these visualisation exercises took a lot of focus, so daily meditation sessions were a must for me. I was understanding very quickly that whenâ•‹I had a quiet mind this communication came easily. Initially my meditation was only for a few minutes a day, but gradually I was able to increase it to half an hour, and then an hour, and so on.
I rang Peter and told him the whole story. But there wasn’t much I could do apart from ringing Marjorie back and filling her in on what Mattie had said—but she didn’t know that I could communicate with animals, and I didn’t want her to think I was making it up to accuse her. So I decided to forget about it. First thing the next day Marjorie rang, very apologetic. She said she’d been awake all night, upset because she’d lied to me. Turns out she had in fact gone into the apartment with a builder to take some measurements, as he happened to be in another apartment in the building when she called him, and he could to do ours then and there.
